It was really cool externing at the Hot Spot these past four weeks. Prior to externship, I had only ever worked one job. Scout and the Hot Spot are so different and I have learned so much from each work environment. At the Hot Spot, I gained some confidence talking to customers. I also got to work with my friends which I am so grateful for. It was really important to me that I spent the last month of high school with my friends, and I am so glad that the Hot Spot was willing to take on three interns. Our mentors were super thorough when explaining how to run the studio. As a person who is hesitant when trying new things out of fear of failure, I was very grateful that they took their time to make sure that we understood how to talk to customers, use the cash register, glaze pottery, unload the kiln, make candles, and so much more. I am glad that I had this experience. Working at the Hot Spot was sometimes challenging but so much fun and I will never forget this experience.
