Where I Have Grown Mathmatically
At the beginning of this year, I came in already knowing a lot of what we were learning because my teacher in 8th grade had covered a lot of algebra.
But then we had moved onto a new unit. In this unit we had learned about shadows, polygons, similarity, angles, transversal lines, triangles (types of triangles, why triangles are special, Pythagorean Theorem, 45-45-90 and 30-60-90, etc.) I had not known a lot about most of these topics but after this unit I was an expert on all of these subjects. While it was not easy, I had a lot of fun learning so much about a topic that I never before felt like I was good at--- Geometry.
This year I have also learned to ask questions. I have always had trouble asking for extra help in math. I would be afraid of working on a problem with my teacher because there was a chance that I could get it wrong. But this year has taught me that it's okay to be wrong sometimes because when I do finally get how to do a problem, I will be able to remember how to do it.
