Progressive Challenge
What Does it Mean to be Progressive
"The dedication to freedom, the belief in opportunity, a practice of active responsibility, and the value of cooperation."
Why I Chose to Focus on Cyberbullying
I chose to focus on Cyberbullying because it is a serious and relevant issue. I know some people who have been cyberbullied, especially in middle school. Cyberbullying affects the lives of many people, not enough is being done to stop it and too many cyberbullies get away with it. I wanted to create a prototype that would create a safe space for cyberbully victims, provide an outlet for people to share their personal stories and to educate people on cyberbullying.

Self Reflection
What was the most challenging part of the work around the Progressive Challenge for you and how did you overcome it?
The most challenging part of the progressive challenge was getting everything done by each deadline. There were a lot of components to the project, so keeping track of what needed to get done, and getting everything done in time was challenging. I overcame this problem by staying super organized. I planned when I needed to finish each piece of the project and kept every paper in the same folder. I also put all the pictures and videos that I took in an album on my phone. Staying organized helped me keep track of everything and save time instead of wasting time looking for the things that we needed.
What do you most appreciate/value about the work around the Progressive Challenge and how did you gain that perspective?
It was nice to learn about the causes and affects of cyberbullying. Like most people, I had common knowledge of what cyberbullying is and the consequences of it. However, I don't think that a lot of people truly understand how serious of an issue cyberbullying is. A lof of teens just watch it happen and don't do anything about it because they don't want to get involved. A lot of parents don't know when their child is being cyberbullied nor do the parent's of bullies know what their kids are saying to others online. There isn't enough cyberbully awareness, and I am glad that by doing this project, I got to make an Instagram page that teaches people about cyberbullying and creates a safe space for those who are cyberbullied.
What have you learned and gained so far in our study of progressivism not only on a personal level but also academic understanding?
Before this class, I didn't really know what it meant to be progressive. After learning what it really means: to want freedom, believing in opportunity and to hold myself accountable in making sure that those things really happen, I now can stand up for myself, stand up for others, and know that I must do whatever I can in order to make America a place of freedom and equal opportunity.
How do you feel your progressive challenge project impacted your user? What changes would you make after testing it?
I think that my progressive challenge project had a big impact on my user. Since it is easily accessible by the public, I believe that my project can really touch the lives of my users. I hope that we can continue to gain followers and build a community of people who are taking a stand against cyberbullying. In order to achieve this, changes that I would make to improve our Instagram include: continuing to developing an aesthetically pleasing theme, putting more information in the bio, and more posts (keeping up with a consistent schedule).
