At the Hot Spot, there are typically 1 to 2 employees running the studio at a time. Since there are three of us interning there, we are able to help accomplish tasks that there usually isn't enough time for. A lot of cleaning needed to be done, but it's not possible for one person to run the cash register, help customers, glaze/ fire pottery, bag all of the pickup orders and clean at the same time. So as interns, we have helped clean all of the shelves, scrub the paint/ wax off from the floors, and even painted a wall. We also have been doing a lot of bagging and preparing for each upcoming weekend. This includes: making colored wax for candle making, putting stickers on bags, bagging pickup orders to free the shelves unloading the kiln and refilling paint bottles.
But aside from tasks like these, we have learned about the cool stuff too. We have glazed ceramics, made candles, run the cash register, help customers get started, and even got to paint some sample pottery for the new location that is opening up.
